Wills of Individuals who have died 2009-2010 - Important Information: If the Will you require is very recent it may not have gone to Probate yet, in which case you may eventually require a Standing Search.
Search Process In order for a search to be undertaken you will need to supply us with the person's name, date of death and the address where they were living when the died, we will then search the Probate indexes which cover the whole of England and Wales. The government indexes are arranged by information from the deceased's death certificate; if your information matches an entry in the government indexes, we will acquire a copy of the Probated Will and Grant for you should they be available.
Intestates As part of our Probate Search we can search for individuals who died Intestate - that is without leaving a Will - and look to see if a Letter of Administration has been issued.
Supplying us with information Wherever possible provide the following: - Full names of deceased e.g. Mary Alice Brown - no nicknames or pet names (remember Rose might actually have been born Rosaline etc.)
- Full date of death wherever possible, that is day, month, year
- Full name including surname of spouse even if spouse is deceased
- Full address of deceased at time of death*
*Consider that the deceased may not have died at home, but in a Nursing home or hospice! Confidentiality We treat any enquiry or application to search the Indexes with complete confidentiality.
Availability A percentage of Wills are not public records, only those that required Probate are public, therefore a negative result can occur; in which case the fee stands. Delivery Times Our delivery times are based on government turnaround times for the production of documents and are therefore subject to change. For the latest information on turnaround times please see the Delivery Times link.
